CHALLENGE
Working with a tight timeframe. Whether revamping an existing poster to better represent the event it advertises (Sally's Sexy Septuagenarian Soiree), hinting at the larger dramatic themes within a complex play (Snow Falling On Cedars), or working with the cryptic text of a Craigslist ad (Pre-Owned Piltdown Man Skull), facing the unique challenges of communicating information, piquing interest, and standing out among other posters in a public space.

SOLUTION
Thorough research of the topic, whether that entails exploring existing collateral, discovering competitors' approaches, or doing a deep dive into an event's subculture, provides me with a depth of understanding that reflects in the final posters' tone. The poster format is a perfect time to experiment with different artistic approaches, so I played with duotoning and hand-cut paper collage to make posters that feel rich, complex, and unexpected.
